Everyone is looking for him, everyone wants him, but Banksy, the my-
sterious British faceless artist, leaves no traces, except for his mark on
the walls of the largest cities. Works that bloom like flowers from eve-
ning to morning, telling about him much more than you can imagine:
just read between the lines to find the hottest topical themes before your
eyes. A great fan of Jean-Michel Basquiat himself, the most satirical
icon of street art, he dominates the art scene attracting controversy and
acclaim. As subversive as he is courted, the invisible artist is keen to
preserve his anonymity, talking about himself and his the worldthrou-
gh his works. Until November 27 at Tiburtina Station, “The world of
Banksy - The Immersive Experience” is the immersive journey through
over one hundred artwor, plus the life-size murals of the faceless artist,
who has always been against the commodification of art . “The world
of art is the biggest mockery of the moment. It is a retirement home for
the most privileged, the pretentious and the weak - he said - It seems to
me that the best way to earn money with art is not to even try. It doesn’t
take long to become a successful artist - all you have to do is dedicate
your whole life to it. The thing people admired the most about Picasso
was his work-life balance”.
The Roman immersive journey opens with Mobile Lovers, the 2014
work found in Bristol, Banksy’s birthplace; and then Kissing Copper,
Monkey Queen, No Future that recall problems of our days and the
past, from war to social dramas. True global artist of our millennium,
with his most (re) known street art works in the world, Bansky delivers
to all intents and purposes the “popular frescoes” addressing with an
unscrupulous gaze the hot topics of our era from capitalism to war to
freedom in a total sense.
In apertura: “No Future”. A seguire: “Rain Girl”, “Wall of Bethlehem”, “Queen’s Guard Pissing”.
